Isaac's Moves

Isaac technically isn't crawling yet, but he is getting around very quickly with his inch-worm and 'army crawl' tactics.  If he sees something he wants, he goes for it!

This week he started pulling up on the coffee table from a sit to a stand, and is getting the hang of pushing himself to a sitting position from laying down.  His new favorite trick is to flip quickly during diaper-change time, leading to lots of bare buns in the air.  Luckily, Mom and Dad are also pretty quick and can wrangle him back over to his back and secure the diaper before any mini toxic waste spills occur.

On the down side, he's been practicing his fancy moves during his sleep too, and waking himself up in the middle of the night a couple times a week.  We'll hear him crying and go in to find him still mostly asleep, up on all fours, rocking back and forth and hitting his head on the crib (poor fella').  This came as a rude awakening for all of us, as he had been consistently sleeping through the night since 3 months.  Oh well, just another "adventure in parenting".

Grandma Love

Isaac got to see both of his grandmas this weekend!  Friday we had an afternoon visit with my Mom, Barbara.  On Saturday and Sunday Eric's Mom, Debi, and friend Mary were in town from Eastern Washington.  We were quick to take them up on an offer to babysit while we scooted off to a bar for lunch and the Sounders game (woo who!), and then we all went to the Stumbling Goat for dinner.

The last couple of weeks, Isaac has been figuring out how to get from point A to point B (usually a cell phone) with strength and determination.  He's working on the coordination part.  But, he's getting stronger each day.

6 Months: Weighing In

Isaac had his 6-month check-up this week.

Official stats:

Weight 19lb 14oz (almost 20 lbs!)  - 86th percentile
Height 29.0" - 98th percentile
Head Circumference - 44cm - 63rd percentile

Highlights from the visit:

He sat up unassisted for the nurse (like a pro) and showed off his hand-eye coordination and grabbing skills by making a total mess of the paper on the examination table. Isaac (and Mom) even did OK with his round of shots.

The Doc said he looks great, is a very healthy big boy and has a happy disposition (Isaac charmed her with his "on-demand" smile).  We already knew that he was a big boy (he's in 12month clothes after all!), but it's reassuring to hear that every thing else is great too!  We're fairly certain he'll be crawling by 7months, if not sooner, and this month he'll get to experience veggies and fruits for the first time.

6 Months!

Isaac is six months old today!  We took the first picture of him (above), but we didn't know if we had a "the shot." So, later in the morning, and an outfit change later, we set him up for another try.  Well, Mr. move-a-saurus-rex showed us:

"hmmmm..... paper"

"nom nom nom"

Sign recovered! Sort of.... He seems quite pleased with himself.

 Then we were off to the Sounders game (they won 3-2 vs. Toronto).

Isaac has his 6-month check-up next week, so we'll post the official 6-month stats then.

And, we've started a new picassa album for October, with lots more of Isaac, and a couple of the rest of us.
