We were spoiled in Park City with so much nature in the near vicinity. But, we're reminded every day that Seattle is quite amazing as well. Here are a few photos of us out and about in the neighborhood, and right in our own back yard (literally).

Fall is Here!

Park City Half Marathon

Pre-Race.  Don't we both look excited?

Eric and I woke up bright and early this Saturday to participate in the Park City Half Marathon.  It was a 13.1 mile beautiful run (sun rise, hot air balloons, and running on trails for most of the race). Eric ran it in 1 hour 50 minutes (8:24 min/miles) and I ran it in 1 hour 54 minutes (8:45 min/miles). Yes, he beat me... again...  My goal was under 2 hours, so I'm happy with that!  Even though I've done a several (10?) half marathons now, it has been over 3 years, so the accomplishment still feels good. I didn't train as consistently as I have in the past (busy job, kid, summer fun, etc) but I felt great the whole run.  You could tell who the locals running the race were (not breathing hard at 7,000 feet elevation) and who the visitors were (panting hard).  Just kidding.  Kind of.

Last weekend we went camping with Grandma & Grandpa J at Strawberry Reservoir (about 1.5 hours from Park City).  A few photos of our adventure:

As the snow melts and it quickly turns to spring, we're dusting off our bikes & running shoes, and enjoying the sun!  Eric has a new mountain bike, and I've signed up for a few running races this summer.  It's been a busy month so far with work, play and visitors. So in lieu of a detailed blog post, here are a couple of photos and a link to our photo album with recent pictures, including some lost photos of Isaac's birthday, Grandpa Merhar's recent visit to Park City and Eric's biking/camping trip to Moab last weekend. Dirty Dash!

What do you get when you cross a 

10K running race with

boot-camp style obstacles, 

crazy costumes and 

a whole lot of mud? 

It's called the Dirty Dash!

I participated in this fun-mud-run yesterday and it was an absolute blast! 

By far the most fun 6-mile run I've ever done...

Our friend Michelle organized a team of friends, officially called team "Dipstix". 

We dressed as '80's sports fanatics.

I was a little nervous about the race, because I've only been running 2-4 miles regularly, and there's a bit of altitude here in Park City (almost 7,000 feet).  But, the obstacles broke up the trail running and really, it was more about having fun than getting a 'personal record' (did they even time us?  I'm not sure!). Not to say it wasn't a great workout... I'm definitely feeling it today!

Seriously... do it! It's so much dirty fun.
