Happy 3rd Birthday, Isaac Otto :: Part 1

Happy Birthday, Isaac! On his actual birthday (April 2), he had a party at daycare and we went to dinner at a favorite wood-fire pizza restaurant on main street.

On Saturday, we'll do celebration Part 2: a swimming party at the local pool with all of his friends.

Seattle Trip :: March 2013

What an awesome Seattle trip!  It felt so good to see everyone, be in Seattle, get needed work done on the house, and have a little vacation.  Here are some highlights:

Easy Travel

Isaac was a travel super-star.  The quick flight, his own seat, and iPad helped.  Smiles all around!

House Repairs

Eric, his Dad Don, and friend Tony get all the credit here.  While Isaac and I were having fun around town, these guys did all of this in 4.5 days:

• Tore out rotting tiles, walls and studs in the bathroom (including the insulation damaged by the water)
• Removed the glass tiles and boarded up the slat-style window (causing the dampness and rot)
• Re-framed the wall, added insulation and concrete board, and re-tiled
• Installed a fan
• Patched the exterior siding like a pro

Family

It felt SO good to see so much family while we were in Seattle.  Isaac is one loved little guy:

Friends & Fun

Time for friends too?  You betcha!  Eric and I slipped away to a Sounders match, friends Tony & Amanda hosted a St. Patty's dinner party for us, and Isaac had tons of fun playing at the park and at my parent's house (cars! trains!).

We had a little down-time too.  We even caught Isaac (aka Mr. No-napper) taking a few mid-day snoozers.

Grandpa Don Visits Park City :: March 2013

Grandpa Don visited Park City a couple of weeks ago.  As an early birthday present for Isaac, he built a gorgeous loft bed for him (with sheets, window trims and an awesome construction-themed quilt made by Grandma Debi and Mary).  The purpose of the trip was to drive down with the bed and assemble it.  And of course, a little Isaac-Grandpa time was welcomed too.

Hogle Zoo :: March 2

A fun day at the Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City:

We enjoyed the warmer Salt Lake City weather (spring feels close!), and had a blast with friends Kate, Ben & their son Jackson.  We got to see the normal line up of animals, including  a polar bear!

Swan Dive, Snowboarding & a Hair Cut

Oh, the fun we have on weekends! A few highlights from last weekend:

First (in no chronological order) -- swimming on Sunday!

Isaac is a fish (like his mom).  Check out this video of him dunking and diving (ie swan dive, aka belly flop).



Second, on Saturday (see-- no chronological order here)... Isaac went snowboarding with his best friend Haven.  It was a stormy morning, but they had a blast on the bunny hill, and in the lodge catching up.

And lastly, Isaac got a hair cut!  Just a couple cute photos from last week.

President's Day Weekend '13

Well, it wasn't the "President Day ski weekends" we've had in the past, but we did have a good little weekend.  What we didn't capture was Isaac swimming. We went twice this weekend (on Saturday, and again today) and he loves it! He was fetching  diving for rings in the shallow end, and holding his breath under water... and being so brave!  In addition to swimming, we also did a quick Salt Lake trip (Wheeler Farm and Costco), and relaxed at home a lot.  Photos:

Happy valentine's day!

Happy Valentines Day!  Isaac had a party at daycare and came home with quite the collection of cards and candy.  We had a nice dinner at home.  It is also about the time, 10 years ago, that Eric and I first met!  It's been a fun ride...  Here are some photos of V-day, and the last couple of weeks:

January -- A little of this, a little of that

Here is a little bit of what we've been up to the last few weeks:

First, Eric had a birthday! Kind of a "big one"-- but he'll kill me if I tell you he turned 35.  Our friends Kate & Ben hosted a dinner at their house to celebrate.

Isaac and I made him a birthday hat. He was a great sport.

We've both been pretty busy at work this month, although nothing compared to working Sundance last January.  Speaking of which, we did get to enjoy a little bit of the festival parties this year...

And (of course), we've been out on the mountains almost every weekend... how can we not when it is 3 minutes from our driveway?

Daddy!  I should have started the post with this one, cause I absolutely love it.  Here we are today at the pool.  These two had a blast.  Isaac was way more confident in the water today, going under the water on his own and a lot less clingy to yours truly.  He stayed in the water almost an hour and a half (thank goodness the pool was closing, or it might have been a meltdown getting him to leave...)

New Years 2013!

Happy 2013!  Where did the year go?  It was a bit of a wild ride this year... and despite a few unexpected turns, life feels pretty darn good right now.

We didn't go all-out this year for New Years Eve-- we had a quiet dinner at home and then went to a friends house (Kate, Ben & their 21-month old son Jackson) to watch NYE fireworks and let the kiddos play.  We've had a few days off here and there for the holidays (Eric more than me), and have been getting up to the mountains as much as possible.  Here are a few photos of New Years, and other random fun times the last week:

Christmas 2012

By now, everyone is well aware of our snowboarding adventures on Christmas Day, but in addition to that we had a wonderful Christmas!  Christmas eve we enjoyed dinner at home and opened one present (new PJs as seen above).  Christmas morning we woke up to open Santa's gifts and more gifts from family and friends.  Isaac had way more anticipation and excitement this year, and it felt like his first real Christmas...  He knew the whole drill about being nice for Santa, and knows just about every holiday/christmas song verbatim.  After opening presents and a nice breakfast (coffee!!) we headed up to the mountain to let Isaac try snowboarding.  Then we headed to Angela & Austin's house for a nice Christmas dinner:

It was a long day, but well worth it to be around family and friends we love and to enjoy a little time in the mountains as well!
