January -- A little of this, a little of that

Here is a little bit of what we've been up to the last few weeks:

First, Eric had a birthday! Kind of a "big one"-- but he'll kill me if I tell you he turned 35.  Our friends Kate & Ben hosted a dinner at their house to celebrate.

Isaac and I made him a birthday hat. He was a great sport.

We've both been pretty busy at work this month, although nothing compared to working Sundance last January.  Speaking of which, we did get to enjoy a little bit of the festival parties this year...

And (of course), we've been out on the mountains almost every weekend... how can we not when it is 3 minutes from our driveway?

Daddy!  I should have started the post with this one, cause I absolutely love it.  Here we are today at the pool.  These two had a blast.  Isaac was way more confident in the water today, going under the water on his own and a lot less clingy to yours truly.  He stayed in the water almost an hour and a half (thank goodness the pool was closing, or it might have been a meltdown getting him to leave...)

New Years 2013!

Happy 2013!  Where did the year go?  It was a bit of a wild ride this year... and despite a few unexpected turns, life feels pretty darn good right now.

We didn't go all-out this year for New Years Eve-- we had a quiet dinner at home and then went to a friends house (Kate, Ben & their 21-month old son Jackson) to watch NYE fireworks and let the kiddos play.  We've had a few days off here and there for the holidays (Eric more than me), and have been getting up to the mountains as much as possible.  Here are a few photos of New Years, and other random fun times the last week:

Christmas 2012

By now, everyone is well aware of our snowboarding adventures on Christmas Day, but in addition to that we had a wonderful Christmas!  Christmas eve we enjoyed dinner at home and opened one present (new PJs as seen above).  Christmas morning we woke up to open Santa's gifts and more gifts from family and friends.  Isaac had way more anticipation and excitement this year, and it felt like his first real Christmas...  He knew the whole drill about being nice for Santa, and knows just about every holiday/christmas song verbatim.  After opening presents and a nice breakfast (coffee!!) we headed up to the mountain to let Isaac try snowboarding.  Then we headed to Angela & Austin's house for a nice Christmas dinner:

It was a long day, but well worth it to be around family and friends we love and to enjoy a little time in the mountains as well!

Isaac Snowboarding: Day 1

Is 2 3/4 years old too early to start snowboarding?  A lot of "experts" say yes, but we'll let you watch this video and decide for yourself!



On a serious note, Isaac loved the idea of snowboarding and after doing some research we decided to let him skip the skis and go for it! It was the perfect Christmas Day activity (after Santa and presents and breakfast, of course...).

December is here and the holidays are in full swing!  Isaac's excitement of the holiday season and snow is contagious.  We're having a lovely week-long visit with Eric's Dad, and wish all of the grandparents could be here to celebrate with us!

Thanksgiving Weekend 2012

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We've had quite the fun week.  Isaac was off daycare Wednesday through Friday. I was off Wednesday and Thursday, and Eric was off Thursday and Friday, so we each got a full day with the little guy.  The big snow from a couple weeks ago has melted around town, so we enjoyed playing outside before the winter really hits Park City.  Here's the run-down:

Thanksgiving dinner! (prime rib with the usual sides... green bean salad, creamed spinach, stuffing and sweet potato fries per Isaac's request).  He wore his Thanksgiving hat for a good portion of the day.

Also of note, Eric brewed two batches of beer this weekend.  He's been rocking and rolling with brewing lately.  Currently in the pipeline:  smoked porter, sour cherry stout, coffee & cream stout, helles lager, rye lager and Schwarzbier.  It's gonna be a yummy winter!

And of course, the weekend was full of calls and skypes to family and friends.  We hope everyone enjoyed time with family and a few good bites to eat as well.

Snow!

Do you remember that excitement of waking up to fresh snow on the ground!?  Isaac is helping us remember it.  We got our first big dumping of snow last weekend-- about 2 feet.  Isaac (and Lodi) loved it! Isaac woke up each morning excitingly asking "Is there more snow to shovel?"  What can we say... he's a worker...
