Bear Lake Camping Trip :: July 2013

We just got back from a weekend camping trip to Bear Lake. Lots of lake time and friends time, and it's always nice to be unplugged for a couple of days. The first night we stayed at the north end of the lake, right by the sandy beach. The lake stays shallow for 50 or so feet off the shore -- ideal for an almost-swimming three year old. The second night we stayed on the east side of the lake at more of a remote camping spot-- to get away from the crowds. We came back sunned, refreshed, full of great memories, and as always... ready for a full night sleep in our own beds.

Where is Bear Lake? It straddles the Utah/Idaho border... about 2.5 hours from Park City. It's hard to see in the pictures, but the lake is a gorgeous aqua color. 

6 Years :: Life's a Beach

We celebrated our six year wedding anniversary on Sunday, with a morning at the beach (Jordanelle State Park), followed by a nap (yes, all of us...), and then a picnic dinner at City Park.

Independence Day 2013 - Park City

This year we broke our four-year tradition of celebrating the Fourth of July in the Tri-Cities, and instead stayed in Park City. But, the Tri-Cities came to us! Eric's parents Debi & Don (G&G M) flew in from eastern Washington for a 4-day visit.

Park City has a notorious Fourth of July celebration, including a 70-float parade, huge city park party, fireworks, and kids activities galore-- all within walking distance from our house! We were excited to check it out, and had a wonderful visit with Debi & Don.

June Catch-Up

I realize it's been a while since we've posted an update, so here's a June catch-up.

The weather in Park City has been gorgeous; sunny, blue skies, and not too hot.... We stay a lot cooler up here in the mountains than in the valley.

Mountain Brewers Beer Fest :: IO and Grandpa

While Eric and I escaped to Idaho Falls for the Mountain Brewers Beer Fest (which I highly recommend), Isaac got to spend time with Grandpa M.

Photo highlights of last weekend:

Isaac and grandpa had a blast while we were gone. Highlights were going to the movie theater for the first time together and the children's festival at city park.

Meanwhile, Eric and I enjoyed the Brewers festival (how can you not!). It's affectionately known as "Utah's best craft beer festival"... in Idaho thanks to conservative liquor laws in Utah, of course.

Isaac's Gold Medal

Isaac ran a quarter mile kids race this weekend and earned his first "gold medal". Don't tell him that he came in dead last place. To give him credit, he was one of the youngest kids. We were very proud that he ran the whole way even when his "legs were getting tired." Below is him ready to cross the finish line.

After Isaac's lap around the track, I participated in the 5k race. I had the best cheering squad, and had a ton of fun despite the heavy rains that started about mile 2. I finished in about 8:30/min miles-- not too shabby considering I started running regularly again just last week. I dashed across the finish line, and straight to the car to dry off. Maybe I'm just nostalgic for Seattle, but when you're running in a complete downpour, how can you not smile?

Mom's Day Program 2013

Isaac's daycare has an annual Mother's Day luncheon and program. It's a lovely time to come see him and all his daycare friends and Moms. His teacher provides lunch, and the kids perform a few songs for the Moms. Here's Isaac performing this year:

Spring has finally arrived in Park City, and we had a great Mother's Day Weekend!

For Mother's Day I got a "new to me" mountain bike and enjoyed my first (laid back) ride of the season. I also escaped to yoga and a mani-pedi on Saturday... ahh... Sunday we went to a BBQ in Salt Lake City and enjoyed a lot of sunshine and relaxation. It was a great weekend!

Isaac also got a couple of "delayed" birthday presents... a train set and a bike with pedals.  He's not quiet ready yet for the bike with pedals (and no training wheels), so he'll probably scoot around on his balance bike until he gets just a little taller. Here he is enjoying the goods:

Eric just got back from a business trip to China. Isaac and I filled our time with lots of fun activities as to not miss him too much. Okay, so we missed him a lot but we did have some fun times. Isaac had 2 days off preschool for spring break, so I took two days off too. It was nice to have a relaxing stay-cation. Here are a few photos of the last week.
