Weekend Happenings

Isaac's introduction to the yard.  Overall, a success. Except when Lodi took his stick.

A fun afternoon Sounders game on Saturday. Sounders FC defeated Chicago Fire 2-1. We needed this win!

12 months: Weighing In

Here are Isaac's Official 12-Month Stats (because I know you are all dying to know *wink wink*).

Weight:       25 lbs  (80th percentile) -- he stood on the big-boy scale all by himself like a champ!

Height:        31" (84th percentile)

Head Cir:    48 cm (84th percentile)

He remains near the top of the charts, although he's leveled off a bit especially in height. 

Like any doctor's visit, no news is good news.  The doc observed that he is a healthy, curious, smart, active and happy boy, and ahead developmentally in many areas -- things we already knew but it's nice to hear.  She also assured me that this recent teeth grinding (which sounds TERRIBLE to me....  *ahg..... goosebumps*) is normal when the top teeth start coming in.  So I'm supposed to just try and ignore it.

The doc also got to witness his walking and exploring, as he checked out every corner of the exam room:

I wasn't going to tell him what this light is used for (hint, it's used with leg stirrups) but I suppose it is better to play with than this:

Isaac Turns One!

 Our baby boy is one!  It's so hard to believe that Isaac was born one year ago.

(pardon the booby shot.. it was the only one we had of us as a family on his birth-day...)

I asked Eric to describe the year in three adjectives and he said... at first it was sleepless... and then we were clueless... but now it is serendipitous.  Well said.

I'd say it's been a fast, fun and wild ride, filled with love, learning and growth (with lots of laughter and a few tears).

Overall, we're very proud of how we're doing as parents.  Mostly because we have such wonderful friends and family to support us.  Speaking of which, Isaac had a grand first birthday celebration!  About 30 of our closest family and friends came over Saturday for lunch, a cupcake, a beer and to sing happy birthday to Isaac.  Here are some photos from the big day!

Weekend Review

Highlights of last weekend:

Grandma & Grandpa "J" babysat Isaac Friday afternoon - here's Grandma & Isaac at the library

Friday night = Sounders game! (1-1 Draw versus Houston Dynamo)

Just hanging out at home. Isaac had a mild fever & a case of the grumps on Saturday and Sunday.  He's feeling better today.

And lastly, what's a weekend without a little housework?

Climbing

Isaac has started to climb (uh-oh!).  He recently climbed up onto the open dishwasher (all by himself). And he got himself into a pickle with the produce bin.

 

Every time he hears the camera beep on, however, he takes a break from his intense concentration to cheese it up with this 3-tooth grin.   Such a ham!

Weekly BBQ's: Spring has Sprung

Since 2006 or 2007 (or was it 2005?), our group of friends has had a standing, weekly, mid-week BBQ from March to October.  Yes, you read that right. And, yes, it's a lot of BBQ's.  In many ways, it's how we stay in touch with our friends. We rotate houses each week.  Everyone brings their own dinner to grill, beverages to drink and stories to share.  Some weeks it's 5 people, other weeks it's 35.  And they've evolved just as we have... The first couple of years it was a bunch of single 20-somethings... then came weddings, the dogs, and now the babies!  The group has grown and changed... and we love knowing that each Wednesday we get to see some of our favorite friends.

And now spring is here again, and we hosted the first 2011 Weekly BBQ last night.

Isaac got to 'play' with Wyatt (2 years old) and Irene (6months old). He was really interested in Wyatt and his bag of trucks... following him around much of the night and sometimes petting him like the dog....  He's not really sure what to think of smaller babies.  He did a lot of staring at his neighborhood pal Irene.  Unfortunately, I didn't snap any photos of the babies last night (say whaaaaat?).  Too busy playing hostess, I suppose. But here are the photos I did remember to take...

Swimming

 

Isaac loves the water! He was a little ho-hum about it the first couple times... it was probably too early.  But he's been three times in last couple of weeks and he loves splashing and kicking in the water. This weekend he swam on Saturday at Tyaira's 4th birthday party (Breyn & Travis's daughter) and on Sunday at the local pool (he's free for 2 more weeks!).  After swimming on Sunday, we were all hungry so we stopped at Naked City Brewery for a late lunch. Here is Isaac making himself at home with some, ah-hem, kegs...

And what's with this new "cheese" smile? (he does it every time we pull out the camera...)  I guess we'll have to work on his natural smile, but in the meantime this is pretty charming.

And so it begins....

The Sounders 2011 Season has begun!  The season opened with the Sounders vs. LA Galaxy match last night in rainy, stormy Seattle (unfortunately, Sounders lost 0-1).  But we bundled up in our rain gear and enjoyed an evening of singing, cheering and seeing good friends.
